(RTTNews) - Friday, Nortel Networks Corp. (NRTLQ.PK: News ) said that its principal operating subsidiary Nortel Networks Ltd, and certain of its other subsidiaries including Nortel Networks Inc. and Nortel Networks UK Ltd. have completed the sale of substantially all of the assets of Nortel's Optical Networking and Carrier Ethernet businesses to network specialist Ciena Corp. (CIEN: News ).
Ciena paid an all cash purchase price of about US$774 million, having elected to replace the US$239 million principal amount of convertible notes with cash consideration of US$244 million. The payment subject to a working capital adjustment currently estimated as a downward adjustment of about US$62 million. Nortel will provide certain transitional services to Ciena, per terms of the deal.
Pavi Binning, chief restructuring officer, Nortel said, "The sale of our Optical and Carrier Ethernet businesses to Ciena enables customers to continue to benefit from Nortel's rich heritage of innovation in optical networking. It also provides a path forward for 2,000 skilled employees who will now take their expertise to Ciena."
As previously announced, Binning will step down from his role as chief restructuring officer, chief financial officer and executive vice president effective March 21, 2010.
Effective March 22, 2010, John Doolittle will assume the role of CFO of the company and Nortel Networks Limited in addition to his current responsibilities leading the Corporate Group. The company said that in light of the milestones met to date and the focus of the remaining work, the position of CRO will not be filled.
Ciena said that it has already completed several important milestones in its comprehensive integration plan, and remains focused on ensuring a smooth transition for the benefit of both customers and employees. It has in place its senior management and extended leadership teams with areas of responsibility and accountability defined.
Ciena also said that nearly 100% of the employment offers it extended to Nortel's Metro Ethernet Networks or MEN employees have been accepted, including a significant number in management positions. It has ensured that upon closing, the applicable Nortel customer and supply contracts will successfully transition to it. Philippe Morin, previously president of Nortel MEN, has been appointed Ciena's senior vice president, Global Products Group.
NRTLQ.PK closed Friday at $0.07, up 1.45%, on a volume of 11.11 million shares on the OTC.

Das mit der cancellei wird ja schon seit anfang der BK geschichte gelabert...naja DAS IST SO BEI JEDER BK Aktie..wie das ausgeht ist abhängig ob am Ende geld über ist....immer das gleiche.
Ich bin mir nicht sicher wie es derzeit mit Cash/Debt Verhältniss bei Nortel aussieht aber noch sind einige Assets da welche einen Gewissen Wert haben. (Patente usw) Die Firma muss IMMER auf die Risiken hinweisen...
Ich versuch mal rauszubekommen wie es mit den Schulden genau aussieht...
Die Risiken sind seit Anfang 2009 bekannt und auch das Statement dass die AKtien EVTL gecancelled werden KÖNNTEN auch....alter Käse meiner Meinung nach. Dennoch in BK Aktien nur das Investieren auf was man im Extremfall als Verlust verkraften kann...weiss ja mittlerweile jeder.
Und "does not expect" heisst nicht definitiv...(will may should would could ....)
Aber jeder selbst recherchieren....und entscheiden ob er das Risiko fährt oder nicht.

zur Tradingstrategie der letzten Tage
Es war relativ einfach Freebie Aktien rauszutraden...(was man bei BK Aktien generell tun sollte oder eben nur das Geld investieren auf das man im Extremfall verzichten kann)
Das Tradingpatter war ganz klar. (buy low selll high, take some profits)
Nach dem 10k in Deutschland zu 0.42€ rein dann gings 100% rauf...wer da nicht die hälfte vertickt hat ist selbst schuld.
Ich selbst habe die hälfte bei 0.68 vertickt somit nicht ganz freebies aber dennoch.
Ich habe dann wieder zu 0.44 bis 0.5 nochmal richtig zugeschlagen und zwar mit noch viel mehr als ich riskieren wollte..aber das liegt daran dass ich den Chart zusätzlich sehr interessant fand.. (50% Fib retracement 200ma hold usw..)
Deswegen auch die Intraday Charts...
Es ging danach 2 Tage +30% hoch und EOD waren es noch 10% bis auf gestern...und dennoch hielt der kurs.
Ich selbst habe momentan Aktien welche "fast" freebies sind und diese werden definitiv nicht verkauft egal was passiert und egal was Nortel mit dem (would could should blabla sagt, das ist nichts neues)
Mit Nortel bin ich schon vor einem Jahr mit der gleichen Stategie gut gefahren habe dann aber alle vertickt (wg Newslage)
Auch damals wurde schon von cancellation von Shares gelabert und jeder hat sich in die Hosen gemacht..
Schauen wir mal wie der Markt reagiert, noch gibt es keine News zum Ericsson deal und noch gibt es Patente welche irgendeinen Wert haben...
Der Kuchen ist noch nicht aufgeteilt und noch suche ich nach Antworten. (Schulden/Cash/was ist was wert...)
Welche Schulden müssen wirklich beglichen werden was bleibt für evtl für Aktionäre übrig...
Lottospiel wie auch bei WAMUQ LEHMQ VSTN usw...

hola
so hab mich hier auch mal angemeldet ;-) , aha der gleiche _bbb_ wie im ihub ;-) , wie ist das eigentlich mit dem ericsson deal der freitag bekannt gegeben werden sollte , kann ja monatg vorbörslich auch noch kommen oder im verlauf des handels , wollen wir mal hoffen dass der deal positv verlaufen ist dann sollte es nen kräftigen schub geben m.me. ansonsten schwierig die news v. gestern zu bewerten . wir werden sehn was montag passiert . bin gespannt !
