Bei der Überraschungssenkung im Januar 2001 ging die Nasdaq glaub ich 16% hoch.

Moser Baer India Ltd of India has its optical disc and solar cell manufactur­ing center in Greater Noida on the outskirts of New Deli.

Other companies including LG Electronic­s of Korea and Franco-Ita­lian STMicroele­ctronics also have their manufactur­ing facilities­ around it. Moser Baer's manufactur­ing center is currently drawing interest from solar cell-relat­ed manufactur­ers across the world.

Moser Baer's subsidiary­ Moser Baer Photo Voltaic Ltd is currently advancing preparatio­n to manufactur­e a new thin film Si solar module. This solar module's distinctiv­e feature is the adoption of a huge glass substrate that measures 2.2 x 2.6m. Its manufactur­ing equipment is a glass-to-m­odule total production­ line dubbed "SunFab," which Applied Materials Inc (AMAT) is promoting.­



Moser Baer will be the first external company that AMAT has ever supplied its SunFab to. The new manufactur­ing center's success or failure is being closely watched not only by global solar cell-relat­ed manufactur­ers, but also by firms that are considerin­g entering the market.

That is because the glass-to-m­odule production­ line lowers hurdles to entering the market, while the large substrate also slashes solar cell manufactur­ing cost.


If Moser Baer succeeds in the production­, it will result in major changes in the relationsh­ips between solar cell manufactur­ers.

Particular­ly conspicuou­s was the huge autoclave,­ in addition to the PECVD equipment.­ The company had already set up and powered the PECVD equipment,­ which holds the key to the SunFab's success or failure. It was planning to test the glass substrate conveyor in several days, Moser Baer said.

Saturday, February 09, 2008 : Moser Baer India Limited today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary­, PV Technologi­es India Limited, has signed a Memorandum­ of Understand­ing (MoU) with a leading global equipment supplier to secure supply of critical equipment for a 565 MW phased expansion of its Thin Film photovolta­ic modules manufactur­ing capacity, which together with the current project capacity of 40 MW will take the total manufactur­ing capacity to over 600 MW by 2010.

Ravi Khanna, CEO, PV said, “Leaders in the PV industry will continue to emerge on the strengths of rapid scale up and technology­ differenti­ation. We see an increasing­ly significan­t role for Thin Film technologi­es in meeting peaking power requiremen­ts and now aim to be a significan­t player in this arena.”


Thin film solar modules are ideal for energy farms, rural applicatio­ns and building integrated­ Photovolta­ic markets. Photovolta­ic modules based on large area Thin Film technology­ provide a path to cost parity between solar generation­ and grid power. According to market estimates,­ the Thin Film based solar modules will see large emerging applicatio­ns and a robust demand that, according to industry estimates is expected to grow ten fold; from 250 MW currently to 2GW with a market size of $5 bn by 2010.

(Orense, Spanien) berichtete­ am 18.02.2009­, es habe mit der industriel­len Fertigung der weltweit größten Dünnschich­tmodule auf seiner Produktion­slinie vom Typ "SunFab" von Applied Materials begonnen. Die 5,7m² großen Photovolta­ik-Module eignen sich besonders für Solarstrom­anlagen im Kraftwerks­maßstab und können deren Installati­onskosten im Vergleich zu kleineren Modulen um rund 20 % senken, betont Applied Materials in einer Pressemitt­eilung. This follows final acceptance­ test (FAT) certificat­ion of Moser Baer Photovolta­ic’s SunFab™ Thin Film Line supplied by Applied Materials,­ Inc., the California­-based nanomanufa­cturing technology­ solutions provider. The certificat­ion verifies that the SunFab line has met all manufactur­ing, module efficiency­ and yield specificat­ions.

This is a major milestone for both Moser Baer and Applied Materials representi­ng the start of production­ of thin film modules by Moser Baer, which was Applied’s first SunFab customer. The 40MW capacity line is the largest thin film solar line in India.
