Mobile Couponing Beer Deal for FIFA World Cup Fans ... NeoMedia Brews Up Mobile Couponing Beer Deal for FIFA World Cup Fans

http://www.neom.com/press_releases/2006/20060621.jsp

FORT MYERS, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 21, 2006 -- Gavitec AG - mobile digit, a NeoMedia Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB: NEOM) company, in cooperation with its FunkTicket AG partner, has brewed up a mobile couponing beer deal for fans attending FIFA World Cup games taking place now in Kaiserslautern, Germany

To participate, fans call a hotline or send a text message (SMS) with their name and the catchphrase "Bewegungsmelder Bier." They then receive a money-off coupon in the form of a smartcode on their mobile phone, which they take to the beer stand at the World Cup soccer stadium. The smartcode displayed on the screen of the cellphone is then scanned by Gavitec's EXIO scanner, which instantly prints a coupon which can be redeemed to save EUR 2 (approximately $2.60) off the price of a Bitburger beer, drawn from the tap of Germany's second biggest brewery.

NeoMedia's Gavitec AG developed the hardware scanners to enable the innovative FIFA World Cup mobile couponing program for fans with partners including FunkTicket, Bitburger beer, handypoints.de, and Pavillion.

"This sort of innovative offer takes couponing to new levels of sophistication and immediacy," said Martin Copus, head of NeoMedia Mobile and COO of the parent company. "Gavitec's EXIO retail scanner enables mobile couponing, ticketing and payment solutions that really move the marketing ball forward." The mobile couponing program will continue through the end of the World Cup games in Kaiserslautern.

NeoMedia's qode to Lead Direct-to-Web Connectivity Worldwide
FORT MYERS, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 28, 2006--NeoMedia Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB: NEOM), an innovator in market-driven technologies, today announced that its patented direct-to-Web technology - already the most sophisticated platform of its kind - has been further enhanced and rebranded to qode(R).

qode(R), which evolved from NeoMedia's core PaperClick(R) technology, is a suite of applications and customizable mobile marketing solutions that link consumers directly to desired pages on the mobile Web. This patented technology turns brand names, barcodes and smartcodes into hyperlinks to the Mobile Internet; simply by scanning a code with a cell phone (or PDA) camera or entering keywords or barcodes in a search-style window, consumers bypass long URLs, search engines or difficult-to-navigate phone menus. qode links mobile users quickly and directly to advertising, mobile commerce, polling, promotions (such as rebates, contests and coupons) and numerous other consumer and enterprise applications.

NeoMedia also announced that it planned to make qode code-agnostic - i.e. read most if not all types of (one-dimensional) barcodes and (two-dimensional) smartcodes, including QR, the "Quick Response" style of smartcode that is available open-source and has become a marketplace phenomenon in Japan where more than 20 million mobile phones already carry code-scanning software, as well as a number of other proprietary symbologies.

NeoMedia plans to launch qode later this year.

Martin Copus, COO of NeoMedia and head of its mobile business unit, explained the reasoning behind the re-branding exercise.

"The original name, PaperClick, made a lot of sense. You would embed a special code into any 'paper' document, use a device to read that code, and with a 'click' take the person to the Internet where a lot more information could be found relating to that document. With the proliferation of mobile devices and applications, however, this technology saw its market potential move well beyond its original application and name.

"Now," he said, "with our strong Intellectual Property portfolio and our increasing ability to scan all kinds of codes, we are setting out to create a Global Industry Standard for direct-to-mobile-Internet connectivity, so a powerful, assumptive, high level brand-name becomes not only desirable but necessary - and qode really delivers the goods. The fact that NeoMedia already owned the trademark rights to qode from a previous business transaction made it a natural choice."

"Mobile marketing enables brand marketers to interact with consumers, like never before, creating a one-to-one dialogue with their consumer, anytime and anywhere," said Laura Marriott, executive director of the Mobile Marketing Association. "MMA member companies, like NeoMedia, are leading in the development of this exciting new channel."

qode takes the exciting new medium of mobile marketing (where marketers interact with consumers via their cell phone) to new heights by offering one click connectivity(TM) direct to the mobile Web, where web sites and multimedia can be quickly and simply accessed. qode also incorporates a set of personalization fields and reporting options that empower the marketer to develop and grow one-to-one relationships with new and existing customers, wherever and whenever the consumer chooses. Although just poised to take off in the U.S., mobile marketing has already been embraced by major household-name marketers and their consumers in Asia and Europe. qode also goes beyond consumer marketing, with enterprise applications including product registration, homeland security, food labeling, inventory control and more.

The qode platform works with any Web-enabled mobile device - no small feat considering the plethora of handsets, carriers and subscription options today. Some of the new enhancements made to the qode platform by NeoMedia include:

-- The qode Link Manager -- the application used by marketers to link URLs to a keyword, barcode number, or smartcode as a part of their mobile campaign -- has been greatly enhanced. Its rules processing now includes day parting, which allows marketers to deliver different content based on the time of day -- down to the minute if desired -- and smartcodes can now be generated in Encapsulated Post Script (EPS) as well as PNG, TIFF and Bitmap file formats for maximum flexibility in artwork and production finishing applications;

-- The architecture of the qode platform is now a distributed model, providing even greater reliability and improved scalability;

-- The qode mobile software is now available in five languages: English, Spanish, French, Italian and German, with Chinese to be added shortly;

-- Downloading qode to a mobile phone is now easier and faster than downloading many ringtones, with the qode platform recognizing the make and model of a user's handset, and automatically providing the right version of software for download.

Nokia Joins NeoMedia and Ferrero ... ... as Campaign Partner

http://www.neom.com/press_releases/2006/20060713.jsp

MUNICH, Germany and FORT MYERS, Fla., July 13, 2006 -- 12snap AG, a NeoMedia Technologies company (OTC BB: NEOM), today announced that it is again working with Ferrero to provide the mobile marketing component for Ferrero’s multi-channel marketing strategy -- this time in its long-running German Football (Soccer) Association (DFB) Team Sticker Campaign for the Ferrero brands duplo and hanuta. Nokia, a world leader in mobile communications, is involved as a campaign partner in this specific marketing program.

Collectable pictures of the national soccer team have been available through purchases of duplo and hanuta products from retail outlets since mid-April. To extend this promotion further, Munich-based 12snap, an award-winning leader in mobile marketing and entertainment applications, has developed the soccer Collector's Album for mobile phones.

A code on the back of the pictures found in the purchased products can be sent via SMS to order the digital Collector's Album and additional DFB football pictures. Initially the digital Collector's Album is installed on the mobile phone through a WAP push link (an SMS sent back to the requester's mobile phone with a link that when clicked upon, will download the album and pictures ordered onto that particular phone). Anybody with a collection of 11 pictures in the digital Collector's Album is eligible to receive a free version of 12snap's "Champion Football Game" on their mobile phone, letting them play their own version of a world soccer championship.

"With this highly innovative multi-media use of the mobile medium, 12snap is again demonstrating its award-winning creativity for long standing client Ferrero," said Martin Copus, COO of NeoMedia and head of the mobile business unit. "We appreciate greatly Ferrero's loyalty."

As the World Cup (the pre-eminent world-wide soccer tournament held only once every four years) was held this year in Germany, and with the German team reaching the semifinals, German fans have been caught up in all the excitement.

"German soccer fans, fuelled by this excitement in their own backyard, have been embracing Ferrero's innovative campaign and elevated the image of the duplo and hanuta brands," said Diana Kemper, executive client service director at 12snap Germany.

The mobile campaign runs through July 31, 2006.

Ferrero has called, for the third year in a row, on 12snap's mobile marketing expertise to implement this on-pack campaign, after having teamed with the Munich company for successful mobile campaigns it created for duplo and hanuta.

"We are pleased that Ferrero is once again working with us to continue its multi-channel strategy by commissioning 12snap to create, develop and implement the Collector's Album," continued Ms. Kemper. "This Collector's Album demonstrates the abilities of our innovative Java client technology and it shows what, creatively speaking, can be done with a mobile phone."

Along with its efforts for Ferrero, 12snap has developed other mobile applications for the world of soccer for other major brand clients including Lufthansa.

Portugal's Largest Cinema Chain Adopts NeoMedia's Mobile Ticketing for Theatres

Lusomundo Uses Mobile Tickets from Gavitec and TopSolutions to Speed Entrance

FORT MYERS, FLA., USA, and AACHEN, GERMANY, July 24, 2006 -- Gavitec AG - mobile digit, a leading provider of mobile technologies and marketing solutions and a NeoMedia Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB: NEOM) company, has collaborated with Portuguese partner and solution provider TopSolutions to equip Lusomundo, Portugal's leading cinema chain, with admission terminals for mobile tickets.

Lusomundo is the first cinema operator in Portugal to successfully offer "no line" mobile ticketing with NeoMedia's global ticketing solution. In addition to purchasing tickets at the box office, movie-goers can obtain tickets through a cash-free Web-based transaction, or from special call centers, and receive an electronic ticket as an SMS on their mobile phones. Tickets, displayed graphically on the phone, are is read by Gavitec scanners at the entrance to the cinema, letting patrons in without having to wait at the box office.

The new service is directed at customers of Lusomundo and TMN, Portugal's largest mobile telecommunications provider. Tickets are received in an SMS, and give ticket holders exact information on theatre location, name and starting time of the film, and the numbers of the reserved seats. A two-dimensional barcode (data matrix) on the mobile phone provides information for the admission terminal and ensures that the ticket can only be redeemed by its holder. To gain access, ticket holders simply place the display of their cell phone against the reading lens of the EXIO scanner from Gavitec. Without any special effort, the system compares the electronic ticket with the Lusomundo database, where it is verified by GPRS in seconds.

Say Good-bye to Old-Fashioned Box Office Lines

"Buying tickets in the old-fashioned way at the cinema box office, and the lines associated with doing so, will soon become completely unnecessary," said Martin Copus, head of NeoMedia Mobile and COO of the parent company. "Today, Portugal is in the forefront, as working with Gavitec and TopSolutions has made it incredibly convenient for more than nine million visitors to Lusomundo cinemas annually."

Mr. Copus noted that, "Even The New York Times (see "Online Movie Tickets a Still-Evolving Force," July 10, 2006) has written about the power of the Internet for ticketing, stating that 'the Web has helped make concert ticket lines all but obsolete'." he said. "With NeoMedia's new global movie ticketing solutions, we believe the same will be true for cinema lines in the very near future."

"Our ticket system gives the customers of Lusomundo a new level of convenience," said N.N. of Top Solutions. "Those who check the Internet for cinema information can now also reserve their tickets right then and have nothing else to worry about for their evening at the cinema. We are convinced that the system will soon be one of the habitual aspects of a visit to the cinema."

Dr. Christian Steinborn, COO of Gavitec, explained further: "Lusomundo is benefiting from the possibilities of mobile ticketing. A reduction in costs, user-friendly operation and administrative security combine to make mobile tickets a strong alternative to traditional admission tickets."

Lusomundo is advertising its new offering through a comprehensive campaign in newspapers, magazines, radio and TV. Cinema-goers are also being informed about the new ticket system on site through posters and additional cinema personnel.

Gavitec AG - mobile digit is one of the leading providers of mobile solutions worldwide. Its code reading technology is an integral part of a large number of mobile ticket and voucher systems and has been used successfully by Vodafone, Nokia, Unisys, Turkcell, McDonald's and SkiData, among others.

NeoMedia Signs Operating Agreement in China to Sell qode "Direct-to-Web" Technology in Asia

(OTC BB: NEOM),an innovator in market-driven technologies, announced today that it has expanded its presence and broadened its business opportunities in China by signing an operating agreement with a China-based company. The operating agreement follows a marketing agreement, also with Shang Fang Wei Ye Technology Development Limited Company of Beijing, a subsidiary of Beijing Sino-U.S. Jinche Yingyang Auto Technological Services Ltd., to introduce and market NeoMedia's patented qode® (www.qode.com) direct-to-Web technology in key markets in Asia.

“NeoMedia has quickly established a relationship and extended its inroads in China,” said Charles T. Jensen, the company’s president and CEO.  “In Shang Fang, we have a partner that brings great knowledge of the ways and means of doing business in its country and who shares NeoMedia’s desire to bring qode and our other patented technologies to market today.”

Mr. Jensen said the purpose of the operating agreement is for Shang Fang to take mobile products developed by NeoMedia to market in China, and to work with NeoMedia to explore new opportunities.”

Doing Business in the ‘Capital of Hand-held Communications’

Mr. Jensen said that NeoMedia “knows full well that Asia is out in front in its use of the Mobile Internet as an everyday means of business. Camera cell phones and PDA’s are everywhere, and China is now the  ‘capital of hand-held communications’, with more handsets in use than any other country in the world. A key to our worldwide expansion plans for NeoMedia is having a strong and growing presence in China, and with this agreement today, we believe we are well underway toward achieving this goal.”

NeoMedia’s primary role will be as the main interface to mobile operators, with the company primarily responsible for demonstrating environments as well as developing demonstration products for mobile systems, service network environment enablers, and mobile application solutions and services.   Shang Fang’s primary role will be to provide an interface with various Asian governments as well as to identify and help negotiate with potential commercial partners of qode in that part of the world.

NeoMedia’s qode technology provides the means for consumer-oriented companies and enterprise organizations to link their products and services directly to specific relevant Web pages on the Mobile Internet, to be available anytime and anywhere.  Users of qode-enabled camera cell phones or PDA’s can click on 2-dimensional barcodes with their handset’s camera, or enter a brand name, keyword or UPC digits in the qodewindow™ text bar to access multimedia information, request/receive coupons, tickets, samples, advertising and more, via the Mobile Internet.

Mr. Copus said that the reach of the partnership between NeoMedia and Shang Fang will extend to China’s special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau, as well as to Taiwan (R.O.C.).

NeoMedia Launches Advanced Auto Rejuvenation Product Line in China, Australia, New Zealand, Scandinavia and North America
FORT MYERS, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 28, 2006--NeoMedia Micro Paint Repair, an innovative developer and international supplier of auto rejuvenation products and processes and a business unit of NeoMedia Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB: NEOM), today announced the launch of a new line of advanced polishes designed to reduce the time and improve the quality of the automotive detailing, refinishing process and paint preservation process.

Continuing its strategy to become a total solution provider of auto rejuvenation products and services, NeoMedia now offers Clear Coat Rejuvenation and Headlight Rejuvenator products. Already successfully tested and approved by clients at NeoMedia's facilities in the U.S. and Canada, these new products will be offered to NeoMedia's current and expanding customer base in North America, China, Australia/New Zealand, and Scandinavia.

Clear Coat Rejuvenation

Clear Coat Rejuvenation (CCR) permanently removes most swirl marks and light scratches in vehicles that occurred as a result of car washing, car waxing and everyday wear and tear. The new NeoMedia product is scientifically designed to reflow, smooth and eliminate defects on all types of painted surfaces without the use of abrasives - even the advanced clear coat finishes of today's vehicles. The simple two-step CCR process produces a hard exterior finish and durable shine that brings a like-new look without a complete paint job. The intricate formulation of CCR incorporates (in part) delicate reflow components with diatomaceous properties (cells being connected in easily separable chains). Specially selected lubricating ingredients and polymerized hardening agents combined with reflow components make CCR an excellent exterior, all-purpose rejuvenator.

"We believe the market for Clear Coat Rejuvenation could rival that of Micro Paint Repair," said Paul Grzebielucha, vice president and general manager of NeoMedia Micro Paint Repair. "With such a technologically-advanced product line and speed of application, we anticipate high demand."

Headlight Rejuvenator

Headlight Rejuvenator (HLR) was engineered by NeoMedia to remove the UV degradation, staining and scratches from plastic headlights and taillights, circumventing the need to make replacements of today's costly lights, including daylight running lights, which continually produce heat. When exposed to chemicals common to car washes, the heat combined with these chemicals stain the lenses, leaving them yellowish, cloudy and without protection from further UV light damage. This state reduces the lenses' ability to light the roadway, reducing night vision and presenting a potentially hazardous condition. In as little as 10 minutes, NeoMedia's HLR can restore the lenses to like new condition helping the clarity and safety of driving at night. NeoMedia also offers Optical Brilliance to add UV protection and clarity.

"NeoMedia's RHL is unlike any on the market today," said Mr. Grzebielucha. "It actually removes degradation rather than disguising or covering it. "We are very selective in adding to our growing line of automotive repair and rejuvenation products and processes," he said. "All new products must be in keeping with our commitment to improve the quality of repairs and reduce the time and cost associated with doing those repairs while ensuring a safe environment for those in the industry. The end result: a happier auto technician and auto owner."

NeoMedia and Kraft Foods Italia Complete Promotion Campaign
FORT MYERS, Fla. & MILAN, Italy--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 31, 2006--NeoMedia Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: NEOM, www.neom.com), an innovator in market-driven technologies, announced today that its mobile marketing agency 12snap AG (www.12snap.com) subsidiary have completed a successful 90-day promotional campaign for Kraft Foods Italia.

The "Celebrate the 35th Birthday of Philadelphia" campaign was for the world famous Philadelphia cream cheese from Kraft, and was the fourth promotion created by the NeoMedia company for the international food giant. The celebration, marking the 35 years Kraft has offered Philadelphia cream cheese in Italy, featured a promotion written on the packs of the double pat of Kraft Philadelphia Classico.

Purchasers and participants had chances to win a "100 Creamy Ideas" cookbook, published by Mondadori, given away every hour, as well a Kodak Easyshare System with C310 digital camera and printer every day, and every month a prepaid debit card with EUR 3,000 ($$3,650 U.S.) in electronic coupons to spend at any sales outlet within the VISA Electron circuit. The grand prize, won by a lucky customer from Milan province, was a fabulous Citroen C2 1.1 Elegance.

More than 6 million packages of Philadelphia Classico were sold during the promotional period, resulting in an average of 1,800 entries per day in the sweepstakes, an excellent result that surpassed predictions.

Martin Copus, president of NeoMedia Mobile and COO of the parent company, said, "We're delighted that a company of the stature of Kraft Italia is closer to mobile marketing, and that 12snap is becoming for Kraft a partner that offers the security of quality."

NeoMedia's Sponge Chosen for Coca-Cola's New Sales Staff Incentive Program by BD-NTWK
FORT MYERS, Fla. & LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 2, 2006--Keeping your staff motivated is one of the biggest challenges faced by many companies. So when Coca-Cola decided to test a new staff sales incentive program, it turned to agency BD-NTWK supported by Sponge, a NeoMedia Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB: NEOM) company, who together had already shown such success with their fountain sales World Cup trade promotion.

The project that BD-NTWK created, called "Kickback," is an internal sales promotion for Coca-Cola staff aimed at driving sales for particular products and getting sales teams used to seeing their mobile phone as a multi-layered form of communication.

"Sales Incentive Text to Win" is a special tool created by Sponge to manage just this kind of incentive program. Coca-Cola staff are encouraged to sell certain products during key sales periods and win points for each eligible sale. Every month Sponge will send a personalized message to each individual keeping them up to date with how many points they have earned, and letting them know how close they are to their targets.

Sarah Morgan of BD-NTWK comments: "Keeping sales teams motivated while they spend so much time out on the road can be complex. Kickback Sales Incentive tool will keep them in touch with their progress and keep the momentum of the program going."

The trial began in July and will last nine months.

NeoMedia's Sponge Subsidiary Provides Mobile Application for U.K. Company 'One'
FORT MYERS, Fla., & LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 3, 2006--Mobile marketing specialist Sponge, a division of NeoMedia Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB: NEOM), is providing its "text to win" application for an international mobile promotion staged by One (brand) bottled water (www.onewater.org.uk) to bring clean water to Africa.

One Water is an example of "ethical" (cause-related) marketing that is gaining considerable momentum in the U.K. and elsewhere in the Western world. All the profits from sales of One Water - which is sold at leading U.K. retailers including Waitrose, Morrisons, Co-Op and Total - go to building unique roundabout PlayPumps overseas, which will improve people's lives by providing free, clean water for drinking, cooking, and washing.

One supports the Roundabout charity (www.roundabout.co.za), which installs PlayPumps in African villages, replacing traditional hand pumps. PlayPumps work through the rotational movement created by children playing on them, much like a merry-go-round. As the children play, the merry-go-round drives a pump to extract water, which is then channelled into large storage tanks. The PlayPumps are so efficient, that there is usually excess water available for irrigation purposes, which was not possible with hand pumps.

NeoMedia's Sponge became involved when One Water approached the London-based leader in mobile marketing applications and content delivery for help with its summer promotion -- to win a trip to Africa, said Jessie Britton of Sponge. "NeoMedia and Sponge were delighted to support this important cause by donating our expertise and giving One Water full access to our 'Text to Win' mobile interactivity, to help them build brand awareness and conduct their promotion," she said.

The grand prize in the promotion is a trip to Africa, where the winner will help build and install a roundabout PlayPump. The August through October promotion is featured on 1 million-plus bottles of One Water, a national outdoor advertising campaign, an online campaign, and e-mail.

One Water founder Duncan Goose credits Sponge with "providing the finishing touch we needed for this promotion. We approached Sponge because of the company's fantastic reputation in handling high traffic promotions, and we were delighted when they not only agreed to work with us, but also donated some very valuable marketing support."

Martin Copus, COO of NeoMedia and president of its mobile business unit, said, "It is exciting and worthwhile to see mobile technology being used to help improve people's lives in this way. We salute the wonderful initiative of One Water and their partner Roundabout."

NeoMedia Secures $5 Million in Financing
FORT MYERS, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 30, 2006--NeoMedia Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB: NEOM), an innovator in market-driven technologies, announced today that it has secured $5 million in financing through the sale of a secured convertible debenture to Cornell Capital Partners, LP.

David Dodge, vice president and CFO of NeoMedia, said the $5 million was originally due upon registration of shares underlying the previous $27 million convertible preferred agreement, but was moved forward and changed from a convertible preferred stock sale to a convertible debenture by both parties. The debenture bears an interest at a rate of 10% per annum, is convertible at Cornell's option into shares of NeoMedia common stock at a price equal to 90% of the lowest closing bid price for the 30 days prior to conversion, and matures three years from issuance.

Mr. Dodge also said that, in connection with the $5 million secured convertible debenture, NeoMedia and Cornell entered into a Pledge and Security Agreement, pursuant to which NeoMedia pledged all of its assets as security for the convertible debenture. In addition, he said that NeoMedia issued 125 million warrants to purchase shares of common stock to Cornell with exercise prices between $0.05 and $0.25 per share, and repriced an additional 85 million warrants previously issued to Cornell with exercise prices ranging from $0.25 to $0.50 to new exercise prices between $0.10 and $0.15.

With this tranche of the funding agreement completed, Mr. Dodge said NeoMedia can receive up to an additional $36 million from Cornell upon exercise of all warrants issued or repriced under this arrangement, if and when the stock price is high enough for the warrants to be exercised.
