Tournigan acquires significant US uranium potential

VANCOUVER, June 16 /CNW/ - Tournigan Gold Corporation is pleased to announce an agreement to acquire up to 100 percent of a portfolio of uranium mining claims in Wyoming, USA from Sweetwater River Resources LLC ("Sweetwater"). This portfolio adds significant exploration potential and North American exposure to Tournigan's four recently-announced uranium deposits in the Slovak Republic, Europe. Some of the areas covered by the Sweetwater claims were previously held by major resource companies Anaconda Mining, Rocky Mountain Energy and Gulf Oil. Tournigan believes it is the only junior resource company with strategic uranium holdings in the top two energy- consuming continents of North America and Europe.
The portfolio consists of six groups of federal lode claims totaling 243 claims and 19.7 square kilometres within the Shirley Basin, Great Divide Basin, and Green River Basin Uranium Districts in Wyoming. Five of the six claim groups host drill-documented uranium mineralization, including two reported historical resource estimates. The Shirley Basin is highly prospective for uranium and was the site of significant production, with four uranium mines in operation from 1960 to 1980. The Great Divide Basin hosts one former producing operation and more importantly, was the focus of several large exploration programs at the end of the last uranium boom. The Sweetwater claims in the Green River Basin include key portions of a zone 13 miles long, which itself is part of a reported 22-mile prospective roll-front type trend of uranium mineralization.
Since the first production, Wyoming mines have produced 193 million lbs of uranium oxide (U3O8). The vast majority of uranium mineralization is hosted in lower Eocene, fluvial sandstone-hosted deposits. The Shirley Basin deposits are contained within the Wind River formation ranging in depth from 100 to 500 ft. Former production was won mostly from open pits, but also included underground and in-situ leach operations phases. Green River Basin mineralization is hosted in the Wasatch formation at depths ranging form surface to greater than 650 ft. In the Great Divide Basin, uranium mineralization is hosted in several sand units of the extensive Battle Springs Formation over thicknesses up to 2,000 ft.
Tournigan intends to locate additional uranium mining claims in the western United States, while initiating work programs and acquiring detailed data on the existing land positions. The Company's US initiative will be spearheaded by Dr. Kent Ausburn, VP Exploration, whom, in addition to holding a PhD focused on research of epithermal gold deposits (such as Tournigan's Kremnica project), completed a Masters Degree on the geochemistry of the Eocene sediment-hosted Hansen uranium deposit in Colorado. Dr. Ausburn will work closely with Mr. John Glasscock who has over 15 years experience conducting mineral exploration in Wyoming. These two individuals have over 50 years of minerals experience between them, with over 30 years focused on the Western United States. In addition, Sweetwater has employed Mr. Norbert Jerome, a senior uranium geologist with experience in uranium exploration and development/production dating back to the last uranium up-cycle, and who was active in uranium exploration in Wyoming and the Western US during the 1960's and 1970's. Mr. Jerome was actively involved in targeting and acquiring the existing Sweetwater portfolio and will continue to work closely with the Tournigan-Sweetwater group in acquisition, exploration and development of new and existing uranium properties.
The agreement with Sweetwater will be replaced by a definitive option agreement, the terms of which involve Tournigan earning an 85% interest in the portfolio by making an initial payment of US$50,000, funding an initial US$90,000 exploration and acquisition program (which includes any additional claims acquired in the United States), issuing 200,000 Tournigan shares to Sweetwater, and making anniversary payments of US$25,000, US$50,000 and US$50,000 at the end of years 1, 2 and 3, respectively. Tournigan would then have the right to purchase Sweetwater's remaining 15% for shares in Tournigan, based on an independent valuation.
The signing of the definitive option agreement is subject to a maximum 30-day period of due diligence by Tournigan, as well as Board and regulatory approval.
Appointment of CFO
Tournigan is also pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Nowell as Chief Financial Officer of the Company. Mr. Nowell is a CGA with 17 years of extensive public company experience in senior financial roles. Tournigan wishes to thank Mr. Jon Lever, the Company's former CFO, for his valuable contributions during the past three years.

Interessant, dass wieder einmal ein Teil des
Preises mit Aktien bezahlt wird. Das verwässert zwar, spart aber Bares und zeigt vor allem, dass die Verkäufer (wie z.B. in Irland) durchaus auch TVC glauben und sich auf diesem Weg am Geschäft beteiligen wollen.

Tournigan is also pleased to announce that in-fill drilling has now commenced at Kremnica on the Sturec deposit. Both of these programs form part of the development "roadmap" for Kremnica announced on May 18th, 2005, which remains on schedule.
Golder Associates is well suited to provide all the necessary support for the baseline study, part of the Environmental Impact Assessment that is a component of feasibility studies to be completed for Kremnica. The just-initiated reverse circulation drilling program will contribute critical sub-surface sampling data to the existing drill and underground cross-cut adit sampling database at Sturec. The combined existing and forthcoming drill data will be the core component of the feasibility studies. Drilling on two advanced exploration targets adjacent to and on-strike with the Sturec deposit is also proposed, specifically the South Ridge Transition Zone and the Vratislav Zone. Mineralisation at South Ridge Transition already falls within the preliminary pit outline for the south end of the Sturec deposit and the historical resource at Vratislav is only 500 to 600 metres to the north of the north end of Sturec.

With over 20 years experience of advising on mining projects in central Europe, Golder has a strong European presence with over 500 staff located across Europe. In 2004, it undertook consulting assignments in the mining sector worth over $100 million. For this assignment, Golder has chosen as its local partner the leading Slovakian environmental consultancy Envigeo a.s., based in Banska Bystrica (17 km from Kremnica). Collection of baseline data will require a minimum of 12 months to allow for representative samples for all four seasons. It is anticipated that the Preliminary Environmental Report will be submitted to the Slovak authorities in late 2005.
Golder will also work with Tournigan to establish a transparent and robust mechanism for engaging with local communities in relation to the project. Tournigan is committed to working closely with local communities to maximise the benefits that such projects bring, while minimising adverse impacts on the environment and local communities.

Slowakei bekannt geben zu können. Der Zweck des Programms war es, den
Gehalt und die Art der VMS Edelmetall- und Basismetallmineralisierung, die historisch festgestellt wurden, zu bestätigen.
Tournigan glaubt, dass die Kombination der hohen Preise sowohl im
Edelmetall- als auch im Basismetallsektor solche Lagerstätten zu hoch
attraktiven Explorationszielen machen. Elf Bohrlöcher mit engem
Abstand und einer Gesamtbohrlänge von 210 Metern wurden fertiggestellt.
Es wurden Bleigehalte zwischen 1,1% und 3,4%, Zinkgehalte zwischen
0,2% und 5,8%, Goldgehalte von bis zu 0,5g/t und Silbergehalte
zwischen 9,2g/t und 58,1g/t festgestellt.
Diese Resultate dokumentieren die Dicke und die Konzentrationen
der Basis- und Edelmetall-/ VMS-Mineralisierung. Es wird angemerkt,
dass diese Proben von stark ausgewaschenen, oxydierten und
verwittertem Gestein genommen wurden. Deshalb können die
geochemischen Untersuchungen nicht als repräsentativ erachtet werden,
da Elemente wie Kupfer und zu einem geringeren Grad auch Zink, Blei
und Silber ausgewaschen sein können.

Tournigan Plans for Curraghinalt Bulk Sample

Tournigan Gold Corporation is pleased to announce that the design for the next step of underground development work at the Curraghinalt Gold Project in Northern Ireland has been completed. Tournigan anticipates this phase of exploration will upgrade the existing Curraghinalt Inferred resource to the Measured and Indicated categories. Prior to initiating the exploration development, Tournigan plans an infill diamond drill programme on the East Extension target which is anticipated to outline an Inferred resource. The underground development work will then also provide data for the upgrading of this potential East Extension target to the Measured, Indicated and Inferred resource categories.
Three-dimensional drawings of the mine design are available on the Tournigan website at www.tournigan.com. The development includes a decline from the existing adit at the 5170-metre level down to the 5130-metre level, with drifts (tunnels) along four of the Curraghinalt resource veins. Material from the veins will be sampled and assayed for the resource database as well as used for additional metallurgical studies, as part of feasibility work for Curraghinalt.
Tenders to complete this work have been sent to two mining contractors who have already conducted site visits at Curraghinalt. Permits will be sought after Tournigan receives the design of necessary surface infrastructure from the contractor. Initial indications are that this stage of the permitting process should be completed in 3 to 5 months. This work forms part of Stage 1 of the development "roadmap" for Curraghinalt announced on May 9th, 2005, which remains on schedule.
Curraghinalt is a high-grade mesothermal gold vein system that currently hosts an Inferred resource estimate of 262,000 ounces grading 15.45 g/t gold in 527,700 tonnes. This estimate does not include high-grade drill results deeper than 150 metres from surface, which is the average deepest projection of the estimated resource. Adjacent along strike to the east of the current resource is the East Extension zone and exploration target. Tournigan expects to add another 210,000 to 300,000 oz of gold resources down to 150 metres below surface level from the East Extension target.
The East Extension target is currently defined by twelve deep historic diamond drill holes, two fences of shallow historic drill holes, nine historic exploration trenches, and four deep Tournigan test diamond drill holes along an approximately 800-metre trend of the vein system. Present drill grid spacing in the East Extension varies from 50 m by 75 m to 100 m by 200 m. Tournigan plans to tighten the grid spacing to 50 by 50 m in order to estimate an East Extension Inferred resource. It is anticipated that this Inferred resource (as well as the existing Curraghinalt Inferred resource) will be then upgraded into a Measured, Indicated and Inferred resource by conducting the exploration development and sampling programme outlined above.

Mr. Simpson was instrumental in Tournigan's successful acquisition of the Kremnica Gold Project and the Company wishes him well in his endeavours, in particular as President of the Britannia Beach Historical Society, the governing body of the BC Museum of Mining. Established in 1971 to preserve the material and social history of mining in British Columbia, the Society concentrates on educating the public about mining.

Tournigan Gold Corporation is pleased to announce that the design for the next step of underground development work at the Curraghinalt Gold Project in Northern Ireland has been completed. Tournigan anticipates this phase of exploration will upgrade the existing Curraghinalt Inferred resource to the Measured and Indicated categories. Prior to initiating the exploration development, Tournigan plans an infill diamond drill programme on the East Extension target which is anticipated to outline an Inferred resource. The underground development work will then also provide data for the upgrading of this potential East Extension target to the Measured, Indicated and Inferred resource categories.
Three-dimensional drawings of the mine design are available on the Tournigan website at www.tournigan.com. The development includes a decline from the existing adit at the 5170-metre level down to the 5130-metre level, with drifts (tunnels) along four of the Curraghinalt resource veins. Material from the veins will be sampled and assayed for the resource database as well as used for additional metallurgical studies, as part of feasibility work for Curraghinalt.
Tenders to complete this work have been sent to two mining contractors who have already conducted site visits at Curraghinalt. Permits will be sought after Tournigan receives the design of necessary surface infrastructure from the contractor. Initial indications are that this stage of the permitting process should be completed in 3 to 5 months. This work forms part of Stage 1 of the development "roadmap" for Curraghinalt announced on May 9th, 2005, which remains on schedule.
Curraghinalt is a high-grade mesothermal gold vein system that currently hosts an Inferred resource estimate of 262,000 ounces grading 15.45 g/t gold in 527,700 tonnes. This estimate does not include high-grade drill results deeper than 150 metres from surface, which is the average deepest projection of the estimated resource. Adjacent along strike to the east of the current resource is the East Extension zone and exploration target. Tournigan expects to add another 210,000 to 300,000 oz of gold resources down to 150 metres below surface level from the East Extension target.
The East Extension target is currently defined by twelve deep historic diamond drill holes, two fences of shallow historic drill holes, nine historic exploration trenches, and four deep Tournigan test diamond drill holes along an approximately 800-metre trend of the vein system. Present drill grid spacing in the East Extension varies from 50 m by 75 m to 100 m by 200 m. Tournigan plans to tighten the grid spacing to 50 by 50 m in order to estimate an East Extension Inferred resource. It is anticipated that this Inferred resource (as well as the existing Curraghinalt Inferred resource) will be then upgraded into a Measured, Indicated and Inferred resource by conducting the exploration development and sampling programme outlined above.
