Schade
Anscheinend keine Saktionen auf russische Palladium.
https://www.mining.com/web/...-house-plans-fresh-sanctions-on-russia/
Aluminum and nickel surged on speculation that a fresh wave of US sanctions against Russia may target the metal and potentially disrupt supplies.
US President Joe Biden said the US plans to unveil a “major” sanctions package against Moscow on Friday, although he wasn’t specific about which industries would be affected. Traders have been on the lookout for new restrictions on Russian metals, which had escaped broad sanctions until the UK announced its own curbs in December.

from Russia with love
Nornickel, the world leader in palladium and high-grade nickel, exported $7.6 billion worth of nickel and copper into the EU via Finnish and Swiss subsidiaries between the start of the war and July 2023. It also sent over $3 billion of palladium, platinum and rhodium into Zurich airport. In 2022, almost 50 per cent of Nornickel's sales went to Europe.

Wieder eine Mine weniger
,: )
After years of development, another of China’s PGM investments in South Africa, Wesizwe Platinum announced it was closing its doors at the Bakubung mine citing mining difficulties and pressure from the PGM market. Employee protests were a feature of its last two years of operation, the details of which are sketchy at best.

Gut so
"AFRICAN Rainbow Minerals (ARM) has deferred the expansion of its Bokoni Platinum Mine saying in its interim results announcement on Friday it would conserve cash.
Concerns range from funding the further expansion of Bokoni to whether it can wash its face at the current first phase of throughput. Thando Mkatshana, CEO of ARM Platinum said the current throughput was “not efficient” a the current price."

Sibanye-Stillwater has about 32 million pounds of uranium contained in tailings at its mothballed Cooke operations west of Johannesburg and about as much underground at the Beatrix mine in the Free State.
“These are some of the best pre-developed uranium assets in the world. The Cooke dumps, it is just uranium sitting on surface. It doesn’t really have to be mined,” he said.
Interest in Sibanye-Stillwater’s uranium is sure to come from Harmony Gold which said in February it was interested in acquiring third party resources of the material after reporting revenue from uranium of R435m in the six months ended December compared to R81m in revenue for the prior period.
“There are quite a few dumps in South Africa that contain a bit of uranium and have been operators. So our project team will be looking at it,” Beyers Nel, chief operating officer of Harmony Gold told Miningmx in an interview.
Froneman said Sibanye-Stillwater would “not be dragging its feet” in finalising a deal for its transaction with an outcome likely in a quarter or two.

SA’s latest PGM mine doesn’t inspire confidence
SOUTH Africa’s platinum group metals sector may be battening down the hatches while prices languish but new production is coming on stream nonetheless. Canada’s IvanPlats will commission just over 100,000 ounces of PGMs this year. More production is due from Eastern Platinum.
Commenting in a letter to shareholders on Tuesday, CEO Wanjin Yang said his company will target high grade PGM ounces and metallurgical grade chrome by-products within the Zandfontein section amounting to production of PGM-bearing ore of 40,000 tons per month by the year-end.
Eastplats hasn’t officially communicated how many ounces of concentrate it will produce from the reopening of Zandfontein, a section of the underground Crocodile River mine on the western half of the Bushveld Complex, host to most of South Africa’s PGMs. But it estimates about 80% of its revenue will be from PGMs this year.
