After months of negotiations, Perilya has decided to re start development at its Potosi Mine. The mine, located on the northern outskirts of Broken Hill, will commence initial operations in the next few months.

Mr Paul Arndt MD of Perilya said that the mine looks to boost Broken Hill production by at least 30% and create up to a hundred new jobs. He said that a lot of these jobs will be sourced locally and will boost the Broken Hill economy.

He added that "Anytime you get that sort of money injection into a town it's got to be good in terms of flow on for all of the businesses that operate. It's not just people who are directly employed, it's your accommodation, it's your supermarkets, it's your small businesses, there's a whole flow on of income into a town.”

Mr Arndt said that the mine will take around 18 months to get up and running, with a mine life of at least four years. He said that the mine is expected to boost Broken Hill's overall production levels.

He added that "We'll see an increase in the first production year of approximately 30,000 tonnes of combined metal and then in subsequent years around 45,000 tonnes. Really you're looking at somewhere between 25% and 35% of additional production coming into the operation."

These outstanding performances are highlighted by mining production being 18% above plan for FY2010 and the All Injury Frequency Rate dropping to 17.2 (compared with 27.5 at the corresponding time last year).

These results are a reflection of the strong focus and delivery in terms of both production and safety performance by our entire team at Broken Hill. die Aktie hinkt wie immer ... verdammt hinterher, die Rohstoffe steigen schon seit Tagen wieder und die Aktie fällt erstmal.
Die nächsten Wochen wird es sicher, wie auch zuletzt, wieder an Fahrt aufnehmen weil man merkt, ups ... was haben wir denn hier verpasst.
